Yes you will need to purchase a new power cord even if you already have one you are currently using. It may be a legal thing. Their thoughts are that you may have a problem with the cord you are already using. We purchased the cord from them at about $29.00 You will need a 220 volt outlet to accommodate the cord hookup. It is not fora regular 120v outlet.

The electric dryers, however, are rated for 240V/60 Hz and 30 amps, so would require the higher-rated outlet and either a 3 or 4-prong cord installation depending on your home's wiring and your local building codes. - Ms. Samsung
