“Can I use a natural soap product in a front loader, even though most suggest using HE detergents? I dont' like any commercial brand detergents as the chemicals are not good for people or the water they end up in. I use a natural soap product that cleans excellently in our current top loader. It has completely removed car grease from delicate clothing. I want a front loader but they all now suggest/recommend using only HE detergents. Can I use my natural soap product?”

Actually, HE (High Efficiency) detergents are of a higher concentration. They create MORE suds with less water. It is designed to give you the optimal cleaning capability while still maintaining energy efficiency. You will notice a decrease in wash effectiveness by not switching to HE detergents.

However, it is HIGHLY recommended that you use He detergent do to the fact that HE detergent uses less soap suds and therefore decompose easier in a front load washer because it uses less water. The less suds you have, the less water you need. Not using HE detergent will impact the performance of your washer. But the decision is up to you.
