I did tons of research for a new full size stackable washer/dryer. It seemed that no one really had a complaint when it came to the VRT Samsung except for the price. So I went ahead and bought the washer and dryer. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them both. The washer has a lot of features as does the dryer. My only complaint is on the dryer. It has a series of selections for drying with the internal sensor. I find my clothes are still damp when I tried it. I just use the manual selections where you are able to adjust the time yourself. As for the people who complain about the odor of a front loader...I just hang a pretty little hand towel over my washer door to keep it slightly open. I never, never, never have issues with odor. So don't let that deter you from the whole front loader decision.
Bottom line- it is a fantastic, super quiet line of machinery that I would suggest buying! I have stacked them with the kit and it is so quiet that it has become a conversation piece!

Doing laundry properly takes a little effort. I think everybody knows the basics. Reading the labels on your clothes should be a general indicator of how they are to be washed. Reading the instruction manual for your new washer is also a good place to start. These folks with issues from day one should review the owners manual for the proper installation of the washer/dryer. Leveling and a solid floor is paramount for the proper operation of this washer. Hot water temp. and knowing the hardness of your water are also good ideas as its harder to get things clean when the water is not treated properly, like well water and some city supplies. The type and amount of the new (He) detergents is also very important in these Samsung washers. Again consult the manual or online assistance.
Now in my case I'm not an expert on washing machines or in washing clothes. I do know the basics mentioned above so I can get by with minimum effort. My wife has many more parameters to meet and as such she did the research and picked this Samsung washer. I have a folder of printed reviews from JD Power, Consumer reports, and many online sites which all agree to the ability of this washer to get the job done. This series of Samsung washers is always at the top or very near of any formal reviews. After the new washer/dryer were installed on pedestals the amount of noise both those devices made did not equal the old GE washer that was replaced. In other words its QUIET! OK so how well did it clean clothes? I could see a difference in my work shirts/pants because I still had some in my closet that were washed by the old GE washer. I decided to time the cycles to see if the indicated time was really the time it took to complete the selected cycle. Sure enough it was with in 60 seconds of the indicated time. My wife has customized some of the wash settings with the average wash cycle at about 50 minutes. With the higher speed spin the clothes come out just about dry. The dryer runs for maybe 20 minutes with a full load to dry. The wash/dry time for a complete load is about 65 to 70 minutes which is a saving of over 30 minutes compared to my previous GE set. My wife can now wash/dry her comforters and king size bed linens with ease. I have not seen a reduction in my electric usage as everybody in the immediate family wants to try this outstanding washer. Now that its winter I did notice a slight reduction of water use on my quarterly bill, this may or may not be a result of the Samsung but I'd like to think so. I think the overall experience with this Samsung product is positive and as mentioned previously there are some basics that must be addressed first. Its nice to be on the leading edge of washing/drying technology. I've been asked is that Samsung worth the price? My wife says yes and me, well I've spent that much on my riding JD garden tractor so what do I know. Remember buy cheap and buy twice. I highly recommend this series of Samsung washer and dryers.

Shh! I can't hear the washer...

Seriously, this washer is very quiet.
Keep in mind that I have only owned this washer for all of 18-hours. However, I have managed to complete four loads of laundry and get 8 hours of sleep in that time. (I'll do more as soon as I find something else to wash; having been without a washer for three weeks you would think that a family of four would have more dirty laundry - this washer really holds a lot of clothes.)
I really am excited about this purchase.
Honestly, I nearly vetoed my husband's choice when I saw the price ($1,039.99 ON SALE - ouch!). Thus far, I must admit that he was right - this washer is worth the cost (if you can manage it).
The laundry comes out of the washer nearly dry! (That is on the next to fastest spin setting) Since we still have an old-school dryer this is a wonderful bonus; drying time is approx. 1/2 what it was with our old top-load washer. I have heard some cautionary tales regarding the noise made when the washer is spinning. However, we live in an upstairs apartment and have not had a problem thus far. Granted, I use the next to fastest spin.
One of my biggest concerns was the potential for mildew on the seal (a seemingly common problem with many front loaders). This Samsung model dries quickly if you leave the door open after your finished; the machine automatically powers down after the cycle is over (so, you're not wasting electricity).
This washer has a ton of cycles; my favorite feature is the "my cycle" option. You can easily use it to customize your load - the machine will remember your last "my cycle" setting; next time you just have to press the "my cycle button." The only thing better would be if you could enter multiple customized load setting (Samsung, if you're out there...).
Also, if you are apprehensive about using a high-tech washer, this machine may be for you. Its interface is extremely consumer friendly (you may not even have to read the instruction manual to figure it out).
I look forward to continuing to use this washer; will get back to you when I can speak to the reliability of this computerized machine.
Note: if you are accustomed to using a top-loader, then it may be a bit of an adjustment for you to stoop to load the washer - it is no worse than doing the same for the dryer; if it really is a problem for you then I recommend that you buy the pedestals.

Never thought laundry could be so fun!

I never write reviews...but could not help myself on this one. We LOVE this washer and dryer combo. This is our first front loading combination pair. We chose to stack ours. We can do four times the amount of laundry in one load, than we used to do, as well as our KING size comforters. There are so many cycles to choose from...and we love the steam cycles, since we have dogs and their bedding to clean and sanitize.
Washer is easy to use and gets the clothes super clean!
I also love the fact that Best Buy delivers and gets them both set up and running in no time.
I am not sorry for this purchase and the price is worth it! The laundry and fabric softener dispenser is also easy to get to. You cannot go wrong with this pair. Worth every penny!

We replaced a 10 year old front washer with this Samsung about six months ago. I love the large capacity of the tub; it significantly cut down on the number of loads that I have to wash. I have washed queen sized comforters & it did a good job with them. The drum light is a nice feature also, since the drum is so large.
This machine is very quiet & does not shake the room. Our old machine was very loud during the spin cycles.
This machine offers a huge variety of pre-programmed cycles, which you can further customize as needed.
We ordered this through BestBuy.com & had it delivered to our house. Delivery & setup were great & they hauled away our old machine.
Best Buy had the best price. I just think it is a lot to pay for a washing machine, so I only gave that 4 stars. But overall, it is a great machine & I am very pleased with it and the ordering/delivery process.

I've had the machine for 6 months - What a great machine. Uses very little water, it's quiet, and it does a great job of cleaning. Also, it doesn't shake like some other front loaders do. It actually is fun to use (which is saying a lot - I mean, a machine has to be pretty amazing to make you actually enjoy doing laundry). The machine has a lot of options for cycles: extra rinse, extra wash, levels of spin, temperature combinations, etc. You can choose any of these on your own, but wonderfully, it has an easy-to-use selector that you just set to whatever you're washing. For example, if you're washing bedding, then you choose the 'Bedding' setting. If you're washing whites, then you choose 'whites'. You get the idea. There are about 10 different settings.
If I had any suggestions for this machine, the only thing I can think of is that I would like to be able to set a hot wash/hot rinse temperature setting (for some reason, you can choose pretty much any other combination, but not that one. That being said, it does a fabulous job of cleaning clothes, so I guess as long as it does, then it doesn't matter if it has a hot/hot setting!).
One suggestion I have for anyone who buys the machine is that when it gets delivered, make sure the delivery people don't take away (or throw out) the travel bolts. These are plastic bolts that screw in the back of the machine to secure the wash drum if you're moving the machine long distances.

Great Washer

My wife and I researched all front loading washers and all signs pointed to this machine. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it. Extremely quiet and energy efficient. The clothes come out cleaner and the large capacity cuts down on the number of loads. I have to wear white socks everyday and they get very dirty. I had to bleach a load of socks once every couple of weeks to get them looking better. I thought I would give them a whirl in the Samsung without the bleach just to see the outcome. I was very surprised to see they were very clean. I am sold on this machine, it will not disappoint you.

Yes, it's a lot of money but if you have a use for all the features it offers, well worth it. The steam cycle is excellent for sterilizing items as well as the Silver Care for items that can't stand high temperatures.
Cycle times are reasonable for most loads; can be long if you add on a bunch of extras.
The machine is very quiet so I would recommend it for areas of your home that could be noise sensitive.
Clothes come out very clean and dry--even our dog beds came out great and odor-free.
If you want to save a few $$, there are other similar Samsung models without the Silver Care/Steam cycle.
A:AnswerHalf a cubic foot is about equivalent to a regulation size basketball. Three-tenths is about a regulation size volleyball.
In other words, the difference between a 4.0 and a 4.5 is that a 4.0 can wash a king size comforter. A 4.5 can wash the same king size comforter, as well as the fitted sheet AND the flat sheet.
A:AnswerThough Samsung does not make any specific claims about the ability of our washers to remove pet hair, we do have features which would seem to lend themselves to that goal. The steam feature in the WF448 helps to loosen the fibers in fabrics to release dirt and stains, and the debris filter can be accessed from the front of the machine for easy cleaning. Many people find that some time in the dryer removes most of what remains of pet hair after the wash. Most garments that can't take the heat of the dryer may still benefit from Air Fluff to remove pet hair and lint.
- Ms. Samsung
A:AnswerYes,
Samsung has VRT (Vibration Reduction Technology) This system balances loads so there is not the vibration problem that other front loaders have.
A:AnswerThe detergent isn't actually dispensed into the clothing until the wash cycle. The detergent will sit in the dispenser and water will come in and wash the detergent into the load at the appropriate time.
A:AnswerPower cords are hard wired into the washer unit. (most cases) BUT! Dryers on the other hand do not have power cords. Around the year 1995 building codes changed and the 3 prong power cord became 4 pronged due to a 'grounding' prong. So manufacturers will not include a power cord with a dryer since they don't know which kind of customer will buy their product. Next there is washer hoses. Samsung (unlike Whirlpool/Maytag and some GE models) still include rubber hoses, but I always suggest the customer get the stainless steel braided hoses. (They have less tendency to burst when under pressure) Hope that helps! Happy washing and drying!!!!!
A:AnswerJust like any washing machine whether it be top load or front load, the door or lid should be open a bit when not in use to allow air to evaporate the excess water. I use a 6" block of a 2x4 to prop the door open a little bit.
Now there is a feature on many Samsung washers called "SilverCare" or "ActivFresh" which kills 99.9999% of mold and bacteria not only in the clothes, but also that may be on the tub. That's an option that can be run with or without a load of clothing inside.
If you're not satisfied with that, Whirlpool makes a product called Affresh that also cleans the tub. That product CANNOT be used with clothing inside the tub.
A:AnswerFor the steam on the dryer, the y-connector and the rubber hose is included. For the washer your given the manufacturer's rubber hoses as well. Most people will upgrade however to stainless. Better quality hose, meaning less chance of leakage.
