I did tons of research for a new full size stackable washer/dryer. It seemed that no one really had a complaint when it came to the VRT Samsung except for the price. So I went ahead and bought the washer and dryer. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them both. The washer has a lot of features as does the dryer. My only complaint is on the dryer. It has a series of selections for drying with the internal sensor. I find my clothes are still damp when I tried it. I just use the manual selections where you are able to adjust the time yourself. As for the people who complain about the odor of a front loader...I just hang a pretty little hand towel over my washer door to keep it slightly open. I never, never, never have issues with odor. So don't let that deter you from the whole front loader decision.
Bottom line- it is a fantastic, super quiet line of machinery that I would suggest buying! I have stacked them with the kit and it is so quiet that it has become a conversation piece!

Doing laundry properly takes a little effort. I think everybody knows the basics. Reading the labels on your clothes should be a general indicator of how they are to be washed. Reading the instruction manual for your new washer is also a good place to start. These folks with issues from day one should review the owners manual for the proper installation of the washer/dryer. Leveling and a solid floor is paramount for the proper operation of this washer. Hot water temp. and knowing the hardness of your water are also good ideas as its harder to get things clean when the water is not treated properly, like well water and some city supplies. The type and amount of the new (He) detergents is also very important in these Samsung washers. Again consult the manual or online assistance.
Now in my case I'm not an expert on washing machines or in washing clothes. I do know the basics mentioned above so I can get by with minimum effort. My wife has many more parameters to meet and as such she did the research and picked this Samsung washer. I have a folder of printed reviews from JD Power, Consumer reports, and many online sites which all agree to the ability of this washer to get the job done. This series of Samsung washers is always at the top or very near of any formal reviews. After the new washer/dryer were installed on pedestals the amount of noise both those devices made did not equal the old GE washer that was replaced. In other words its QUIET! OK so how well did it clean clothes? I could see a difference in my work shirts/pants because I still had some in my closet that were washed by the old GE washer. I decided to time the cycles to see if the indicated time was really the time it took to complete the selected cycle. Sure enough it was with in 60 seconds of the indicated time. My wife has customized some of the wash settings with the average wash cycle at about 50 minutes. With the higher speed spin the clothes come out just about dry. The dryer runs for maybe 20 minutes with a full load to dry. The wash/dry time for a complete load is about 65 to 70 minutes which is a saving of over 30 minutes compared to my previous GE set. My wife can now wash/dry her comforters and king size bed linens with ease. I have not seen a reduction in my electric usage as everybody in the immediate family wants to try this outstanding washer. Now that its winter I did notice a slight reduction of water use on my quarterly bill, this may or may not be a result of the Samsung but I'd like to think so. I think the overall experience with this Samsung product is positive and as mentioned previously there are some basics that must be addressed first. Its nice to be on the leading edge of washing/drying technology. I've been asked is that Samsung worth the price? My wife says yes and me, well I've spent that much on my riding JD garden tractor so what do I know. Remember buy cheap and buy twice. I highly recommend this series of Samsung washer and dryers.

Shh! I can't hear the washer...

Seriously, this washer is very quiet.
Keep in mind that I have only owned this washer for all of 18-hours. However, I have managed to complete four loads of laundry and get 8 hours of sleep in that time. (I'll do more as soon as I find something else to wash; having been without a washer for three weeks you would think that a family of four would have more dirty laundry - this washer really holds a lot of clothes.)
I really am excited about this purchase.
Honestly, I nearly vetoed my husband's choice when I saw the price ($1,039.99 ON SALE - ouch!). Thus far, I must admit that he was right - this washer is worth the cost (if you can manage it).
The laundry comes out of the washer nearly dry! (That is on the next to fastest spin setting) Since we still have an old-school dryer this is a wonderful bonus; drying time is approx. 1/2 what it was with our old top-load washer. I have heard some cautionary tales regarding the noise made when the washer is spinning. However, we live in an upstairs apartment and have not had a problem thus far. Granted, I use the next to fastest spin.
One of my biggest concerns was the potential for mildew on the seal (a seemingly common problem with many front loaders). This Samsung model dries quickly if you leave the door open after your finished; the machine automatically powers down after the cycle is over (so, you're not wasting electricity).
This washer has a ton of cycles; my favorite feature is the "my cycle" option. You can easily use it to customize your load - the machine will remember your last "my cycle" setting; next time you just have to press the "my cycle button." The only thing better would be if you could enter multiple customized load setting (Samsung, if you're out there...).
Also, if you are apprehensive about using a high-tech washer, this machine may be for you. Its interface is extremely consumer friendly (you may not even have to read the instruction manual to figure it out).
I look forward to continuing to use this washer; will get back to you when I can speak to the reliability of this computerized machine.
Note: if you are accustomed to using a top-loader, then it may be a bit of an adjustment for you to stoop to load the washer - it is no worse than doing the same for the dryer; if it really is a problem for you then I recommend that you buy the pedestals.

I never write reviews...but could not help myself on this one. We LOVE this washer and dryer combo. This is our first front loading combination pair. We chose to stack ours. We can do four times the amount of laundry in one load, than we used to do, as well as our KING size comforters. There are so many cycles to choose from...and we love the steam cycles, since we have dogs and their bedding to clean and sanitize.
Washer is easy to use and gets the clothes super clean!
I also love the fact that Best Buy delivers and gets them both set up and running in no time.
I am not sorry for this purchase and the price is worth it! The laundry and fabric softener dispenser is also easy to get to. You cannot go wrong with this pair. Worth every penny!

We replaced a 10 year old front washer with this Samsung about six months ago. I love the large capacity of the tub; it significantly cut down on the number of loads that I have to wash. I have washed queen sized comforters & it did a good job with them. The drum light is a nice feature also, since the drum is so large.
This machine is very quiet & does not shake the room. Our old machine was very loud during the spin cycles.
This machine offers a huge variety of pre-programmed cycles, which you can further customize as needed.
We ordered this through BestBuy.com & had it delivered to our house. Delivery & setup were great & they hauled away our old machine.
Best Buy had the best price. I just think it is a lot to pay for a washing machine, so I only gave that 4 stars. But overall, it is a great machine & I am very pleased with it and the ordering/delivery process.

I've had the machine for 6 months - What a great machine. Uses very little water, it's quiet, and it does a great job of cleaning. Also, it doesn't shake like some other front loaders do. It actually is fun to use (which is saying a lot - I mean, a machine has to be pretty amazing to make you actually enjoy doing laundry). The machine has a lot of options for cycles: extra rinse, extra wash, levels of spin, temperature combinations, etc. You can choose any of these on your own, but wonderfully, it has an easy-to-use selector that you just set to whatever you're washing. For example, if you're washing bedding, then you choose the 'Bedding' setting. If you're washing whites, then you choose 'whites'. You get the idea. There are about 10 different settings.
If I had any suggestions for this machine, the only thing I can think of is that I would like to be able to set a hot wash/hot rinse temperature setting (for some reason, you can choose pretty much any other combination, but not that one. That being said, it does a fabulous job of cleaning clothes, so I guess as long as it does, then it doesn't matter if it has a hot/hot setting!).
One suggestion I have for anyone who buys the machine is that when it gets delivered, make sure the delivery people don't take away (or throw out) the travel bolts. These are plastic bolts that screw in the back of the machine to secure the wash drum if you're moving the machine long distances.

My wife and I researched all front loading washers and all signs pointed to this machine. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it. Extremely quiet and energy efficient. The clothes come out cleaner and the large capacity cuts down on the number of loads. I have to wear white socks everyday and they get very dirty. I had to bleach a load of socks once every couple of weeks to get them looking better. I thought I would give them a whirl in the Samsung without the bleach just to see the outcome. I was very surprised to see they were very clean. I am sold on this machine, it will not disappoint you.

Yes, it's a lot of money but if you have a use for all the features it offers, well worth it. The steam cycle is excellent for sterilizing items as well as the Silver Care for items that can't stand high temperatures.
Cycle times are reasonable for most loads; can be long if you add on a bunch of extras.
The machine is very quiet so I would recommend it for areas of your home that could be noise sensitive.
Clothes come out very clean and dry--even our dog beds came out great and odor-free.
If you want to save a few $$, there are other similar Samsung models without the Silver Care/Steam cycle.

The washer is quiet, does not shake the house, easy to use, read the manual and it gives you the knowledge. Cleanest clothes we have ever taken out of a washing machine and they spin out with very little work for the dryer, dry time is half what it was from our top load machine. It uses a lot less water and does a better job, it's a winner.

This was to be our first experience with a front loader. Did a lot of research, and initially ordered an LG model. Was very clear after a couple of days that it wouldn't work out, as washer shook quite excessively during spin cycles. Our floor was not the problem, as directly below washer was an "I" beam supporting the floor joists. Further research drew us to this Samsung model. The VRT technology sounded promising, regarding the shaking we encountered with the LG. To make this story short, the washer, in all aspects, operates very well. And, any vibration that we have during the spin cycles only last a few seconds as the VRT adjusts and compensates for any uneveness in the load. My wife has noticed a reduction in the amount of soap she uses. At first she complained about the longer cycle times, but that is no longer an issue as the larger volume of clothes being handled more than compensates for the extra time. Great buy.

Best Delivery People Ever

I was called by the delivery people and asked if they could deliver the washer and dryer a little early. (I bought the matching set with steam) They were professional and very careful. The machines went into a just finished utility room - they didn't bump or scrape a wall or make a mark on the new floor. After they installed the washer and dryer and started a wash cycle, they showed me exactly how everything had been hooked up, explained all the key features of the machines, showed me where to add soap, how to clean the filters and when and they showed me how to operate the washer and dryer. I don't think I have ever had someone that worked directly for a manufaturer be so thorough and informative and I didn't even ask for the information - this was all prompted by them. So refreshing!
As far as the machines go - I washed my first load last night and the clothes were very clean. I have to get accustomed to these longer cycles with a front loader and I need to ask what people do about all the left over moisture in the drum. I left the door to the washer and soap drawer open and they were dry this morning.
Other people have expressed concern about service since these Samsung machines and parts are from overseas. I'll have to wait and see. I can say that the machines are really easy to operate with many choices for how to wash and finish your clothes. The stainless steel drums are so nice and both machines are really quiet. The end of cycle signal is pleasant.
I also want to mention that when I purchased these online I had trouble getting an additional discount that was being offered if you purchased more than one appliance so I called customer service. Again, I had wonderful service. The customer service rep. redid the order for me with the discount and made sure I had everything I needed and then got the delivery set up for the following Saturday as I requested.
This is only one experience, but I have to say I am impressed with BestBuy. This is the first time I have purchased a large item with delivery from them. I usually shop at Lowes or Home Depot. I will be checking BestBuy first from now on.

Great water saver washer!

I am very happy with my new front loading washer. It saves lots of water by sensing the size of each load and only adding as much water as is needed. I love the Silver Care setting for cold water. It gets all types of clothes and bedding and towels so clean. The spin works great too. The clothes are only slightly damp if I put it on high spin. It also saves on detergent. You need to buy the HE type, which does cost a bit more, but you only need a little bit. I recommend leaving the door open for about 20 minutes after you empty the load, as the water left on the door might smell musty if you don't do laundry everyday. It is also super quiet when it is on. I have mine on top of a "pedestal", so it is easier on the back.

Great Washer

I have had this washer for 2.5 months now and have been extremely satisfied with my purchase. We have 2 large dogs and a baby and everything we have washed gets extremely clean even without using Steam or Heavy Duty. The Normal wash cycle is only about 40 minutes long and you can add extra features to any wash cycle to customize it for you.
The true test of the washer was when we put a large canvas sleeping bag that we let the dogs sleep on in the washer. Before it was washed it smelled awful. After putting it through the Heavy Duty cycle it came out with no scent of dog whatsoever. With our old top loader that sleeping bag wouldn't even fit, and if it had, similar items (dog bedding) had to be washed at least 4-5 times before they smelled or looked clean. My husband does a lot of outdoor activities and I used to spend a lot of time washing his clothes at least twice to make them smell clean. Even though the wash cycles are longer on this machine it saves me time not having to wash things 2 or 3 times to get them looking and smelling clean.
I think that other reviewers who are having problems with their cycle length may have problems with the water supply not filling up the washer properly. Also, due to some of the comments about poor Samsung customer service I went ahead and purchased the Best Buy Extended Warranty Plan so that I don't have to go through Samsung.
I would recommend this washer to anyone.

We purchased this washer in late February 2009 after researching new washers and dryers for about 6 months. After reading many reviews from others who had purchased front load washers we chose the Samsung and have been very pleased with our decision. We can barely hear the washer run, even when it is spinning. Wah quality is excellent. We had read reviews with comments about front load washers excessively vibrating the floor unless the washer was mounted on a concrete slab. Ours is installed on a ceramic tile floor on top of standard plywood subflooring. We have no vibration problems no matter what the load is or how fast we have the spin cycle set. We had Best Buy deliver and set up the washer and dryer, they did an excellent job, arrived at 7:10 in the morning and were out with the old washer and dryer by 8:30 with the new connected and running.

Once you enter into the jungle of front loading washers and dryers’ picking one out that fits all your needs plus is reliable and "affordable" is not easy. Our search included all the major brands. We opted for getting the most reliable one that did everything we wanted and bit the bullet as far as price was concerned - it is competitive to the other upper end products but it is still an expensive (but worth it) purchase.
The Samsung really hits 5 stars in regards to easy & intuitive controls, quiet operation and feature rich design. It gives you a feeling of quality in how it looks works and operates (right down to the cute chime signals). Clothes come out clean and smelling fresh. Very reasonable wash times. The load capacity of this washer is amazing. We also bought the matching Dryer. They work great together. We purchased the pedestals which give great storage space (of note - they are much sturdier than the LG stands and attach more securely). So far we are more than pleased with the purchase.
We received great assistance from our local Best Buy & they also did an excellent job with delivery and setup. Highly recommend the Samsung product.

Did a lot of research before buying this washer and matching dryer from best buy. We also bought the extended warranty because we were told that all front loaders have problems .
I have had the set for almost two months now and I love them. My clothes are clean and fresh and I have learned how to cut down on the time cycles.
I am really glad I replaced my old machine. I am very happy. The machines are easy to use and I have not had any problems.

If you've been looking at LG, KENMORE, ELECTROLUX--this is the product to BUY! I searched for over a year until this came along!
The only thing most people complain about with ANY front loading machine is mildew/water/smell with the seal on the washer. I have had NO problems because after I get a load out of the washer I leave the door open about 5 inches or so and then close it an hour or so later...so there's no water to cause any problems! On to my review---
I love this washer (and the matching dryer). I got my set about a month ago on sale with the free pedestals. I must say I got a great deal ($2600 with the pedestals and delivery/set up). I have been really happy with the performance. My husband wears uniforms and works underground in a mines, so his clothes are very dirty. This is the first washing maching that gets them CLEAN! Clothes smell better and look better.
I am an educator, so I dress in alot of HAND WASH ONLY items and DRY CLEAN ONLY items, and I can use the hand wash option and it's not going to ruin my clothes because there's no agitator to rub the items. If it's DRY CLEAN ONLY I steam them in the dryer...works GREAT!
I have been very happy with this purchase and BEST BUY was great with setup, delivery and removal of our old junky set. THANKS and I WOULD BUY THIS AGAIN!

I received my Samsung washer in April 2009 and could not wait to try it out. I do a ton of laundry for a family of 5. I was spending all weekend stuck at home just trying to get it all done before going to work on Monday. I wanted another dryer to try to get caught up on laundry. I read all the reviews on this website about the washer.
I agree with all the reviews. It is quiet, uses less water and does a great job. The loads are longer then my old washer but the washer spins out most of the water in the clothes so they spend half as much time in the dryer. I love that there is a light inside. I did not replace my dryer so I did not purchase the pedestal and it is easy to transfer the laundry from the washer to the dryer.
I am very happy with this washer and others in the family are now interested in learning to use it. When the end of the cycle is reached it plays a cool song that my kids think is funny.

Bought top of the line LG front-loader from a nice retired Navy Chief. They were delivered on a Thursday. Delivery and installation went well. Installers leveled the washer. However, every time I ran it after that, the washer tried to walk out the door.
Nine days later, on a Saturday, I had time to level the washer myself. Leveled it to a gnat's behind. The LG no longer tried to walk around, but it sounded like a helicopter. It shook the whole house. It was sitting on a first floor, outside wall, with ceramic floor. The flooring was truss-built and very solid. With only 8 dress shirts in it, it sounded like it was going to tear itself apart. I called the orange store to come get the set. Returned the set and bought thsi Samsung and matching dryer with Vibration Reduction Technology. I love the new set, no noise, no vibration. Also, they are feature-rich and clean the clothes very well.
