I used an hdmi cord to connect the sound bar directly to my tv and then connected the directv box to one of the inputs on the TV. The directv remote automatically turns on the television and the sound bar when you hit the on button, and then controls the soundbar with the volume button. It did that automatically so I'm not sure if it was the TV or the directv remote. The TV is a 65" Sony 4k 800 series.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, I have Directv genie when I shut the TV and Directv off with the remote every thing shuts off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have Comcast cable, and it will control the volume of the sound bar. You need the sound bar remote to control the "finer" setting of the sound bar.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The bar does come with its own remote because there are different input settings and different output modes for the sound bar (stereo, music, sports, simulate surround, etc). But you can't program the TV remote to control the bar. However, depending on what type of TV you have, there may be an audio setting option in the TV menu that will allow you to control the volume with the TV remote. For instance, I have Bose speakers hooked up directly to my smart TV. No home theater system or other components. I went into the TV menu and into audio settings and was able to set it to external speakers so now my TV and cable box remote controls the volume.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. Sound quality is very poor in any case. Control that come with the unit does not give good control over sound output. I would return mine if I could. Neither the Samsung TV or the sound bar have an audio output to allow you to connect to a home stereo.
