• This unit has a built in tuner to accept a coaxial cable direct from the wall. You will not need a converter box.

• All new TVs have a built in digital transport adapter and will allow you to watch basic cable. You have to scan for channels after the cable is plugged in in order to change between them. If you want the full range of channels your provider offers you still need a cable box and pay for whatever premium channels you want though.

• Dee, You can connect this directly to your cable wall outlet, as it has a QAM tuner that will decode many of your cable channels. (Pay channels may require a box or phone call order). Thanks for your interest in Samsung products. --Mr. S
