Thanks for the question. Samsung doesn’t currently have research to confirm the effectiveness of the pre-packaged detergent pods relative to traditional powder or liquid, though it’s important to use only HE formulations of whichever detergent you do choose. When using the detergent pods, they should be placed directly in the drum rather than the detergent drawer. - Ms. Samsung

I'd be afraid there might be some buildup of gunk from the packet as it dissolves in the little detergent drawer, and I'm unsure if the amount of water the machine flushes through the drawer would be sufficient to adequately dissolve the packet.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The washer is designed to use high efficiency liquid detergent. That doesn't mean you CAN'T use one of those, but I would recommend against it to achieve optimal results.
