“Can you place the subwoofer in a cabinet without losing sound functionality? Concerned that this subwoofer may have more functionality than just bass like my power sub which can be placed in a cabinet”

The sub-woofer is not the strong and powerful sub-woofer that many people like for deep, powerful bass, particularly for playing music. It is more subtle and yet plenty powerful when needed for movies with lots of booms and action. My guess is that it will sound just as good if placed in a cabinet. Besides the speakers on the soundbar itself provide pretty good bass sound on their own.
