There is nothing to lift on the range top. The grates and the burner tops come off for cleaning but everything else is sealed. It is like cleaning the top of a smooth top range albeit with the burners sealed in. Should a spill occur you would just take off the grate and clean out the dished out area on the top like you would a smooth top range.
