Good day. This is a good question. To maintain the selected temperature setting, radiant elements will cycle on and off. You will be able to see the element turn red and then fade away. This on-and-off cycle is used to regulate temperature and is completely normal. If you have questions or concerns about how hot your cooktop gets, this guide will explain it all.
