It is significantly louder than my older ones and has several options for sound types such as Movie, Music etc. The Sports Mode is similar to a surround sound effect. I find I can put my sound level on a 11 where as on my older models I needed it twice that level or more. I do have hearing issues with certain tones and there is an enhanced sound that is very helpful.
