Yes to buying your own antenna. No to having an on board antenna. The better the antenna the better your reception. If you pay less than $40 you probably need to do more research.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are wanting to watch local over the air TV you will need an antenna attached to the antenna connection on the rear of the TV. A good site to see what may be locallyviewable is http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/dtvmaps/ If you are watching cable, satellite or internet streams and don't want over the air stations you can skip the antenna.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have Samsung SUHD JS7000 series 55'' TV and it does not have an antenna integrated in it. I have little experience with different antennas but my latest purchase of RCA HD antenna is working really well. I can see over the ait TV channels from CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC and many more in 720p and 1080i resolution. I think, antenna requirement depends on your use. If you just want to stream contents over the internet or already have cable/satellite dish connection, you need not buy an antenna. However, if you want to watch over the air channels, it definitely will be required with JS7000. I usually stream contents over the internet through apps like netflix/hulu/amazon but like to have an option of watching sports and some latest TV shows most of which are broadcast over the air.
