I knew in advance that my Samsung feet landed a little too far apart for my TV stand (which was 41") so I purchased a new piece of glass that was 48" wide to replace the older one (which I was able to do given the design of the TV stand with the top surface being a rectangular piece of glass that just sits on the stand - no fasteners). If there is more than one option for spacing the legs, that comes as news to me. (It could be true, but I did not observe more than a single option - with permanent slots already placed for inserting the legs. So I'm doubtful. Ask a sales rep to be certain!) If I'm right, this TV will not fit on your 42" stand. You could squeeze it onto 44" BUT you'd have very little margin for error. I'd recommend a few extra inches for safety.
