Not sure where you are located but in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago area the answer is "yes". You need a HD box which comes with the HDMI cable
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would think if you want to take advantage of the full HD you will need the service. If you do not watch HD channels then no.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes you can
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can watch "regular" programing on this TV and run cable directly into it. Running cable directly to the TV would not give you HD quality or anything else (kinda defeating the purpose of purchasing a 4K TV). If you get this TV replace the Sharp with it (would be my suggestion). To enjoy HD quality, you will probably need to get a box to convert the cable signal to that. I have an HD DVR box for my Samsung 4k, a regular box for the other samsung smart tv and no box for the old outdated vizio in the spare room (just wall cable to tv connected)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you're paying for cable and that box was provided by Comcast, then yes I would imagine so. I know that this TV has a feature built in to where if you are connected using an ethernet cable you can watch Direct TV without having a box hooked up to it (you would need DTV service of course) not sure if it works the same with Comcast or any other cable provider.
