“Does it wash out in a bright room? I have heard that Plasma TVs generally are not bright enough to be watched in brightly lit rooms. Also, that the screen is much more reflective than the LCD/LED screens, so that Plasmas are very difficult to watch in rooms with a lot of sunlight? Can anyone comment on that?”

yes this is true, but each television manifacture may have different features that may cancel out those reflections. You are going to have to ask. But this also depends what size you want and have fast of process you want? (more than 55 inches and 120/240 vs. 600)
