• You were told correctly, TOM! This model has separate buttons for bake and convection bake. This means you can choose whichever you'd like to use, each time you cook. ^Jecca

• Yes. You can press the button for "bake with convection" or regular "bake". The "bake with convection" is the control panel image that shows a picture of a circular fan, since this is what drives the convection.
