The HU8550 is a 2014 Samsung LED 4K 3D Smart TV whereas the F8500 is a 2013 Samsung PLASMA 3D Smart TV. Both are excellent TV's but offer PROs and CONs. Here are some PROs: F8500: Superb black levels, fastest imaging for sports/gaming/action movies, and natural coloring. HU8550: Highest resolution imaging, crisp detailed images, brighter image, thinner/lighter design. I own a 65" HU8550 and my friend has the 64" F8500 and both are amazing televisions but we both chose differently.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe the 8500 is curved. The 8550 is equivalent to the curved 9000. I think the curve is a gimmick costing more without much if any benefit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 8500 should be the exact same TV but the model number is that of the Costco version of this TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 8500 is sold at CostCo and the 8550 is sold everywhere else.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.8550 has higher clear motion rate. id go for the 8550.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Personally I would return the set. I have the 8550 65' and I am very disappointed. If you watch sports or if you watch real life TV this brand is not the one. The refresh rate is so slow that the screen shows a trail during camera transitions. I am actually returning mine this afternoon and doing away with the Samsung brand.
