• Use a combination of Rtings and Consumer reports. Rtings alone are a little dark. Never use the store settings. They are meant for very bright lights.

• The Samsung JS 8500 has a setting that is "store demo". That is the one the stores use when displaying their TVs and the reason why they look really nice in store. That setting is not recommended for in-home viewing.

• I am happy with the factory set-up, I have also used the Sports mode from the preliminary menu items bar. Best answer I have for this question.
