High dynamic range. For the technical answer I would suggest you Google it. For a practical definition it provides a more vivid color contrast, Deeper and brighter colors. On this Samsung tv, "dynamic" is one of the picture mode options found in the settings menu. I have selected this option when viewing a 4k blue ray that indicates HDR content. For non 4K content I prefer the "standard" mode.
