• A:Answer I wouldn't. It's pretty easy to get in there and change the colors, tone, brightness, and contrast to your liking. I found the reds to be way too saturated out of the box, and some simple tweaks fixed it. It's easy to experiment, and you can always change it if you don't like it.

• A:Answer The main difference between the Q7 and the Q8 is the approach to display (LCD) lighting. The Q7 (and Q6) uses edge lighting and the Q8 (and Q9) uses a full backlight. That's why you're paying significantly more for the Q8. Backlit displays (with local dimming) will (arguably) give you better picture quality (higher contrast) than an edge-lit display. But you will pay a premium for a backlit display. Can you and I tell the difference between a backlit display (i.e. Q8/Q9) and an edge-lit display (i.e. Q7/Q6) with the naked eye? In some scenes - absolutely. (In other scenes - absolutely not.) Bottom line, a full backlit LCD is "better" than an edge-lit LCD. Are you willing to pay the premium for the slight increase in performance? That's a very personal question. (By the way - go look at any other manufacturers website and look at their tech specs. You will consistently see that their "high end" TVs are backlit and their "lower end" TVs are edge-lit. (And please don't muddy the water with OLED. That's a completely different discussion that what we're having here.)
