Does it need to be calibrated...the old ones did null

There's a big difference between calibration and adjustment. Generally Samsungs are pretty well calibrated out of the box, but all tv's can be improved with professional calibration once they are set up at home. Every tv should be adjusted by the user to meet their personal preferences. Professional calibration by a qualified technician is an added expense that most consumers probably don't need, but some critical consumers may desire.

Not at all. I did the hookup using the screen prompts. Nothing to calibrate at all. Just be sure to have your modem password for WiFi.

I have not calibrated it and it looks amazing.
