Will I still need to rent cable boxes ? null

NO...it has Samsung TV+(PLUS) about 100 free channels so all you will need is a $10 cheap antenna from walmart or Target and run the search for digital channels in the settings ( under Broadcasting- select Antenna) to get your local channels and your all set.... if you don't want to pay for Cable TV or Direct TV Dish network etc....
