“Torn between this Samsung un75ju7100fx2a and the Sony xbr75x850d Ultra HD Tv's. Will install in basement family room with no windows and 15 - 16 ft viewing angle. Predominate watching sports and movies. Which one do you recommend.”

Go 7100!!!! The Best Buy people will push hard for the Sony. The Sony has an IPS panel and the contrast and black levels are less than desirable with the lights off. The Sony does well for very wide viewing angles in well lighted rooms. In regards to motion both TVs are comparable with the edge to the 850D. The flaw of the 850D that you won't hear is poor contrast and black levels in dark rooms. The JU7100 is a great all around TV in light rooms, dark rooms, sports, movies, and TV bells and whistles.
