Should be but some laptops make it difficult to get to the hard drive to replace it. Search online for how to replace a hard drive in your specific laptop to get an idea of how easy or hard it may be. Also remember that you will need a kit to allow you to transfer data between drives. The Samsung EVOs don't include a cable or anything else for the physical transfer but do include the cloning software.

Yep, just know what you are doing taking the HP apart. Use the software provided to clone your drive, skip the "recovery" partition, it's a waste of space. Don't freak out if your drive is a 1TB, as long as you haven't used more than 500GB, the software will fit everything onto it.

Compatible for all laptops and desktop computers that take a typical SATA drive, including Macs. Samsung also makes SSD's for other types too. Consult your MFG specs for exact type hard drive.
