I'm not sure about the drive cavity in your laptop but I will assume it is a standard 2.5" drive bay in which case this will mount directly. Google CloneZilla. Free and easy drive transfer program assuming your new drive is bigger than your old drive. I would recommend a ThermalTake BlacX Duet for drive cloning. Download / install CloneZilla to a USB flash drive, make the install bootable (read online), put your old drive and the new drive in the Duet, connect the duet via USB (USB 3 preferably), boot any computer from the CloneZilla flash drive, from there pretty much follow the on screen prompts.

They usually have a spacer in the box to adjust the thickness, but if not you can cut a spacer our of something around the house. Best Buy has cloning cables, and if you don't like that you can buy a simple USB 3.5-inch hard disk case and use that -- and keep it to put the drive in and use it as an external drive. You might want to read up on the Internet on the difficulties of cloning from a larger disk to a smaller disk. -- been there, done that and didn't enjoy it much!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's a 2.5 drive, so it should fit like a glove. As far as cloning, they do sell an enclosure that supports usb 3.1, it's around $52 though https://www.bestbuy.com/site/startech-com-usb-3-1-drive-enclosure-for-2-5-hard-drives-and-solid-state-drives-black/5768716.p?skuId=5768716.
