You could, but I would be wary of using such an expensive SSD to upgrade an ailing and outdated computer. There are cheaper SSD drives that can accomplish the same upgrade performance for half the price at the expense of some speed. It is worth noting that the components you have in your XP laptop simply can't take advantage of such a drive. Stick with a Crucial or PNY SSD.
