• Yes, you have to backup the old drive, first. You install it in your desktop or laptop. It is a blank drive.

• yes it can. However the drive housing inside your computer might not be designed to hold one. The drive may have to be left a bit loose inside. However if the housing is ssd compatable to screw the drive in firmly it will work perfectly.
