I believe it is. The newer MacBook Pro's uses a special SSD that is on a circuit board and plugs into a special slot on the mother board. However, I think the 2011 uses a standard size SSD. I have replaced the hard drives on MacPros that were made prior to 2015. Also you have to have a special screw driver to remove the screws on the back cover.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.should work fine, just be aware, once in a while when installing MacOS, in disk manager it won't show up, usually if you exit disk manager and go back in it will appear.
