Not really any straightforward answer. This may help. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-upgrade-ssd-your-acer-nitro-5
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have the Acer Nitro 5 with the 1 TB HDD, it is mandatory to replace that with a SSD. All you need to do to install it is back up all your files on the SSD or a Flash drive (I would recommend backing up the files on the SSD, as for you would need a high storage flash drive if you have lots of data to back up). Once that’s finish just open up the laptop, then carefully unplug the HDD from the wire it’s connected to, you would need to use a little force as the cable is connected with some adhesive, then unscrew the HDD from the hard drive mount (if it has one) then screw in the SSD to the mount and just reverse all the steps. In conclusion, if you are going to back up your files to the SSD, you would need to buy a separate cable to backup the data onto the SSD.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on what type of drive your Nitro already has; there's at least 3 types of drives/connections for laptops: mSATA (a smallish chip-type), SATA (like this), and NVMe (the newest & fastest, which is like a longer, less wide version of mSATA). You can get some decent info from Intel Driver & Support Assistant (free download from their site, and handy for keeping Intel chipsets up to date). If it's direct replacement for a SATA, you'll want a USB to 2.5" SATA adapter cable (with UASP capability if possible for full transfer speeds) to transfer things if your machine doesn't have a space for a second SATA drive. The Samsung Data Migration software is easy to use, and Magician is nice for drive checkups (and it can allow RAPID mode for even faster speeds if your system is compliant, but will only work with one EVO in a system - RAPID doesn't work with NVMe drives though).
