OWC has an SSD add-on kit to add an SSD to your particular system. This SSD will work without problems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have the same iMac. It’s a pretty big job I’d leave to a pro unless you are really comfortable taking things apart. You do need the adaptor dohickie. The drive mounts with double sided tape under the optical drive. I dont mean below, I mean you have to remove the optical drive, mount the ssd under where the optical drive fits. That’s how mine was installed. Or were you planning to just replace the 3.5” drive which may be a bit easier?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I put one in a 2012 MacBook pro, and the increase in speed was unbelievable. I had no issues with the installation.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have that exact model iMac and yes it can be made to work but there is a thermal sensor you have to purchase for third party drives to keep the fan from constantly thinking it is overheating or you could do like I did and leave the standard drive and add this drive. There is a small cavity behind the optical drive and owc sells a kit to mount it with double sided tape. That way you can have two internal drives.
