For laptops only? What about desktops? null

Works fine with a desktop. You just need to make sure your motherboard has the appropriate connector.

If the Motherboard has a compatibile motherboArd with a large enough M2 slot. I gave it running in two if my desktops with older style mechanical drives

If the mother board supports the m. 2 socket it will work. Just have to verify if it will work with sata 3 or pcie.
