this 980 PRO is pci-e gen 4.0 ssd. the 970 evo series is only gen 3.0 ssd. better buy the 980 PRO if you want to fully utilize you motherboard's gen 4.0 pci-e lane but you have to look for better deals. some days, best buy will have them on sale. price on msrp is sill high. so be sure to keep an eye on the sale.
