I am not sure why Best Buy or Samsung has not responded to your question as I was wondering the same thing. Based on my comparison of the two, there seems to be two differences. The chef collection comes with a 22K dual-power burner and fingerprint resistant black matte finish. If you can live without these upgrades you can save $400. Hopefully Best Buy or Samsung will confirm my comments.

Why haven't Best Buy or Samsung answered this excellent (and obvious) question? The specs of these two models appear to be identical except for the mention of a "matte" finish on the Chef Collection. What are the differences?
