The top portion is the refrigerator as you stated and the bottom part is a separate freezer. Both are controlled separately and you can set temps through the Samsung application on the top screen. The upper and bottom sections are spacious and with a lot of room for anything you want. What I like is that both sections are like a small refrigerator in terms that you have two doors that opens separately. Great buy!

So, if you are looking at the refrigerator, the top 2 doors open the refrigerator only section, the bottom left door is always a freezer section, and the bottom right door can be adjusted to refrigerator or freezer temperatures as needed. ^Jecca
