The answer depends what he what he is trying to do. - If he is trying to synch messaging and emails, he can easily do this. - If he is trying to synch files, folders, and contacts; he can do so on a limited basis using the iTunes app. - If he is trying to tether his iPhone (use it for internet access for the laptop), that depends on both the iPhone's permissions and his wireless provider's restrictions. It may or may not work. It may or may not be possible. In any case, it is not dependent on the laptop, it's dependent on his iPhone and service provider.
