Questioncan i use s pen buying it externally?

- Answer From the reviews I have read, nobody has been able to make the s pen works on the alpha. I tried the wacom bamboo pen 2nd and it works perfectly. I think it has window ink support. It also has palm rejection feature when I’m using the Wacom pen on my alpha.

- Answer Hello RodT, I am a heavy user of this laptop for work. I load large photo files and mark them up with construction inspector notes using my digital pen.. I easily get 12 hours of battery life over two days of use. I think I could get at least several more hours if I didn't stream movies for entertainment at night in my motel room when I am out of town. This baby is powerful and fast. My guess is that if you just do word documents and e-mail you will come close to 17 hours of battery life.. . .

QuestionIs there supposed to be some sort of indicator light that either changes color or turns on/off when the Galaxy Book Flex Alpha goes from charging to fully charged? I only ask because I have zero lights showing when my laptop is fully charged

- Answer I asked a Samsung rep and they told me there is no charging indicator light on the laptop nor charger. The only way to know the laptop is fully charged is to leave it on and look at the battery indicator at the bottom right corner of the screen. (stupid Samsung, I don't understand the logic in this.)

QuestionHow are the speakers on this computer?

- Answer I find the speakers to be pretty decent, they are side-firing (as opposed to being on the top or bottom of the chassis), so regardless of whether I choose to watch in laptop, tablet or tent mode it is clear and crisp. Laptop speakers in general aren't for audiophiles, but I find these to be rich enough for movies and music. It's not base-heavy, and has a good balance of mids and highs.

QuestionHas anybody physically charged this laptop via the USB-C port. I have contacted Samsung & they can’t confirm, so I was hoping someone could verify this could be done (I know it states on the webpage that it can - but the manual does not corroborate this)

- Answer I cannot get USB charging to work either. It looks like there is a setting in the BIOS, in the manual on page 69 its shows that it is there is a USB charging toggle under "Advanced", however only have Battery Calibration available to me in that location. I've only had the Flex Alpha for a few days, but it doesn't last anywhere near the advertised run time. The computer is on standby 90% of the time and email/browsing the rest of the time and it only lasts about six hours. One of the USB ports have a bend in the aluminum case right out of the box. So far I'm not very happy with this device and I'm considering swapping it for a Lenovo Yoga.

- Answer I also believe (from my research) the Flex has a Thunderbolt 3 USB 3 that the Alpha doesn't have (it has a standard USB 3). TB3 should allow you to charge via that port. Also the Alpha has a HDMI that the regular Flex doesn't, but you shouldn't need that on the Flex since the TB3 can send out 4K video to 2 devices while HDMI (on the alpha) can only do one. Also the Flex has Qi charging on the touchpad (when the PC is not powered on) and the Alpha doesn't have this feature.

- Answer This has one processor, but the processor itself contains 4 cores, each of which run two threads simultaneously. So: 1 processor, 4 cores, 8 max threads.

- Answer Although I haven't yet installed the types of software that you have listed, I believe you can install them on your new Samsung laptop. The computer is equipped with an SSD 512 GB hard drive; lots of storage capacity for so many software. The 12 GB memory is simply a working space and this too is a lot of working space. Caveat; please note that I am an accountant/college instructor and I do not have expertise in computer/software.

- Answer There're no moving parts but it does get quite warm if you obstruct the vents on the bottom. Using only the battery the i7 model is ridiculously fast for a laptop and very battery efficient. The i5 version would probably have better battery and thermal management since it's effectively slower. But the i7 easily goes 8 to 10 hours on a charge! (More if you manage it right.) As far as which to buy? It depends on your needs. If you buy the i5 you could always add a faster (and bigger) SSD to take away some latency. But I for one am glad I bought the i7 instead of the i5.
