A:Answer No. It is a new device. Unlocked means that the device can be used with any phone carrier including an international carrier if you are traveling.
You will need what is called a SIM card (similar to an SD card) from the carrier to activate your new phone with that carrier. There is a generic SIM card that comes with the phone. If you activate while making your purchase, you will receive a carrier specific one with the phone. You just swap the two to activate with the phone company you chose.
In the future, if you decide to change phone companies, you can switch using your same device. You just need another SIM card from the new company.
