“How does a contract work? For the 32GB it says its $49.99 with a contract, so do I still have to pay a monthly payment or anything? And if so, how much will it be?”

No, the contract locks you in for two years to a phone plan. There is a $40 upgrade fee but no monthly payment for the device.

It's an one time fee, but you will be locked into contract for 2 years. No monthly installment payment

No that is the 2 year plan. The month to month varies on how much you put down but you can upgrade at 1 year and my bill came out less on the month to month than 2 year traditional plan.

You pay your cell phone carrier for your monthly bill but no additional fees for the actual phone.

Nope - Price is for a 2 year contract. There is a substantial termination fee if you want out of the contract early.
