  • QuestionCan it be set to notify when it goes Beyond a certain range?

    Asked by Garyd.

    • Answer No geo fencing. If you attach it to your dog and he goes out for a walk away from you and doesn’t have his own Samsung Galaxy phone, he won’t show up on the location map until he gets close to anyone with a Samsung Galaxy phone.

  • QuestionCan it be used to replace the current Smartthings Arrival Sensor to trigger automations within the Smartthings system?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer No. After linking the Smart Tag to your Samsung account, it shows in your Smart Things app, but it really isn’t part of Smart Things. It can’t function as an arrival sensor or be used in automations. It does seem to be a better tracker than Tile, though. Limitation is you must have a Samsung Galaxy phone to attach it to your Samsung account and view it on the Smart Things app on your phone, not on iPad. Also “lost” tag will only update location when near a Samsung Galaxy phone.

  • QuestionWhats the Battery Life in this thing? and what size battery does it take? can the battery be replace?

    Asked by danny.

    • Answer Hi Daniel! Thank you for reaching out to us. We appreciate your interest in knowing the battery life and size of the Galaxy SmartTag. To answer your question, SmartTag uses a CR2032 battery, a small lithium battery shaped like a coin. It’s the same kind of battery that is usually used in wristwatches. In other words, you don’t need to charge it. Depending on your usage and other factors, CR2032 batteries can last about a year, so you won’t have to worry about replacing them for a while. • QuestionIf I put it in my car, how far away can it be to find my vehicle?

    Asked by Pat.

    • Answer There's a video on Youtube of two Australian guys comparing this tracker to a Apple airtag and an actual vehicle GPS tracker. Might be worth a look. You can be pretty far away, however, it will require you be in an area where there is cell service.

  • QuestionCan this be used to tracked my child? Maybe hidden in backpack?

    Asked by Moss.

    • Answer According to the description it can, the way I'm reading it. If the tag gets close to any Galaxy device with Bluetooth on and the Find My turned on, it will ping the tag location to your device through that device close to the tag.
