That depends on your phone, but you can not just call via watch, without a connected phone. With a connected phone, If you have an Android phone, when you connect this watch with the App on your phone, it will ask permission and show your contacts and gives you an icon to make call. It does not give this option on iPhone. I hope it answers your uestion.
