“Samsung 5 was best known for freezing, -never to work again after, - an update that they pushed. It became a $300.00 paper weight. To my knowledge Samsung never fixed that issue. Has Samsung 6 had any similar problems?”

I don't know yet. My Samsung 5 froze and seemingly died overnight. I bought the Samsung 6 to replace it and so far have not had that issue, but it's early.
