I purchased one for my older gear. It worked like a charm. Very convenient. It was nice not having to use the d pad on the side of the headset. I got my gear last year as a promo with my galaxy s7.

According to the description, it works with Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ as well as previous handsets: Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 and previous generation headsets.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It doesn't really connect to the VR Gear itself. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth.. I have the Galaxy 7 with the older VR Gear headset and it works great.
