• I purchased one for my older gear. It worked like a charm. Very convenient. It was nice not having to use the d pad on the side of the headset. I got my gear last year as a promo with my galaxy s7.

• I am using it with a Galaxy S7 Edge on the 2016 GearVR hardware, it works just fine. It pairs with the phone, not the headset. According to the description, it works with Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ as well as previous handsets: Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 and previous generation headsets.

• The VR setup works from the phone bot the headset itself. So long as you have a headset and phone that can run the VR, everything should work just fine.

• It works with gear vr 2016. But it actually is the phone it mates with not the headset

• It doesn't really connect to the VR Gear itself. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth.. I have the Galaxy 7 with the older VR Gear headset and it works great.
