I have the Note 9 with the same issue, but I can get mine to connect. It's not the easiest thing to do, but it's getting easier. Put it in your lap and put the C plug into your phone while it's locked on the headset and push down real hard, when you hear it connect. Close it. I did this a half a dozen time's and some time's it would connect and some times it would not. I actually thought I was going to break it, but it has gotten easier. It's a little frustrating, I'm still debating weather to return it or not. Hope this helps.
