Hi, Likely they didn't measure the remaining life of the drive. Chances are this was a return, for whatever reason, and the end user is taking a gamble on what the first owner actually did with this drive. Hopefully it was returned with opened packaging, but who knows. I doubt GS does anything to the drive, maybe a zero-ed wipe but even that is unlikely in my opinion. Joe
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I ordered the 2TB and got a 500gb one. Be sure to check the drive right after receiving. Best buy scams sometimes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Download Samsung Disc Magician. When you get this device, plug it in, open the Samsung app and it will tell you the condition/life of the drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is 100% RNG. Based on mine and friends’ experiences, sometimes you may get a decent bit of wear, sometimes you may get a low amount of use and cycles. I used Samsung Magician and CrystalDiskInfo (both free applications) to determine drive health and usage. My purchase was at 100% health with 0TBW.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I ordered this when it was 129 dollars which is a steal for 2TB Opened up hwinfo60 but you could use crystal disk info too. Just look at total writes and mine had 36000GB written or 32 Terabytes. But these drives have 360 Terabyte written endurance per 1 terabyte of capacity. So these 2TB drives have 720TBW endurance. So doing 720/36 means my drive has 95% left of its drive life left. I still wouldn’t recommend these for heavy write scenarios. These are storage drives for things you write once and read many times like video games, movies, files, etc. but at 720TBW it would last a while even doing heavy writes. Its more the fact that its a QLC drive with a SLC cache so large writes will eventually slow down after 50-70 gigabytes. For a game drive though these are awesome. The refurbished units are back at 160 and at that price you can find TLC nvme drives with 2TB capacity for that price, but for the 129 I was able to pick one up for it was an absolute steal. The box was pretty beat up, but the actual drive itself didn’t have a scratch on it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just look at the S.M.A.R.T data. Basically any computer health program will show this. Hwinfo 64 can even show you exactly how many gigabytes have been written to the drive. Considering the 1 TB model has 360 TBW, 2TB as 720TBW, 4TB 1440 TBW, and 8 TB 2880TBW, this is the most important number to look at. It will also tell you a percentage based on the TBW of the drive and the lifetime data written. So a 2TB drive with 720TBW endurance rating with 72 Terabytes of lifetime writes will show a drive life left of 90%
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have had this drive for four years, back in the days where it cost $600+
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I did not check (but mine was low). Now days the manufactures are not really adding a restriction on data in and out like it use to be. As long as the drive is testing good, you are good.
