You have to add an ‘Automation’ in the app. Essentially what that does is you tell the system if something happens with a specific device then perform a specific action. (Such as a notification). It’s an option in the menu

Please try again later.you can have it text you through smartthings app. it would text your phone. i have mine do that plus turn on lights. i also through Alexa echo dot say my window is open or my door. you can also have it notify your phone through alexa. if automatons not working disable alexa smartthings skill then enable
