• Yes, every computer has a hard disk. It's where you store your operating system, files, and programs. Your old computer probably had a corrupted disk drive. However, this laptop was released only a couple months ago, so it will definitely be different than your previous computer. I haven't had any problems in the month I've been using it.

• The current model has a Solid State Drive (SSD), but a hard disk error could still apply. The problem is that your computer is three-years old. It is not the same computer even if it has the same or similar model number. There is no way to accurately answer your question without knowing your unit's specifications.
