Jon, there is an available M.2 slot for the SSD. You do not need to take out the existing HDD. I forget all the exact details but this is the model number of the Samsung SSD I installed: MZ-N5E500BW. There is a noticeable speed difference, while worth the cost and effort

Please try again later.there is a separate m.2 slot located on the motherboard. you do not have to remove the hdd at all, i just installed a crucial mx300 m.2 ssd myself, i plugged it in, cloned the hdd to the ssd and changed the boot priority to boot from the ssd instead of the hdd, everything is wonderful
