• Yes you can, I did. No subscription required. It supports more devices than Wink and does the same automation scenarios.

• I just did exactly that myself. Overall yes it will support the same things you had on your wink although there are some exceptions. It doesn't support my Kidde smoke detectors and I had to buy another hub to work with this one to control my Lutron Caseta light switches. Overall it works much better than the Wink hub.
