Great question, MJ! The SmartThings Tracker actually connects to a cellular network for service, allowing you to use the Tracker anywhere that service is available. You can learn more about the Tracker and how it works from our Support page here -- https://support.smartthings.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001389283. Thank you! ~Samsung Brand Ambassador
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The unit itself uses Cell phone data/service so range is as good as the cell service you have. It is not like the other tag units that use Bluetooth and only meant to find your keys in your house. A positive is the range and use of the cell data service /GPS and Small size. A large Negative to this Samsung unit is very short battery life, maybe 3 days at max! That a lot of recharging if you use it all the time. Makes the unit useless to us, going to return it. Another negative is you must have good strong working Verizon cell service in your area to even set it up.
