No, you will need the Smartthings hub, or the new Samsung router that includes hub functionality. But I believe these will work with any Zigbee controller.

No, it requires a hub that usues zwave or zigbee. I can't remember what this one has.

Not directly. Google home does not have z-wave or zigbee capability.

no it has to have the hub to communicate with the cloud.. it can be used with google home via the smartthings hub

No. The Google Home doesn't manage any smart items on its own. It connects to third party services, which requires hubs. Same thing with Hue bulbs: Google Home doesn't see the bulb directly, but it does through the hub. Google home also just doesn't do anything with the sensors at all. If you had switches and a smart things hub, it would work.
